VEDENS Output
It is difficult (but not impossible) to track the progress of an individual
vehicle visually, but effects, such as congestion, queuing in lanes, lane closures
and accidents can readily be identified. Output data is collected at regular intervals,
rather like having many, continuous, highly detailed traffic census facilities
in operation simultaneously. Unlike the super-computer models, which try to reinforce
validation by simulating the failure of census devices, all data form an accurate
representation of the model's predictions. This is in line with the purpose of
the model to understand the science of the phenomena.
