The Purpose of VEDENS
The VEDENS model differs substantially from most models which have been
reported in the literature. There are other, supercomputer-based applications
in existence, which model fairly complex networks, traffic signals and census
(monitoring) devices. The thrust of these models is in the field of traffic management
applications. VEDENS focuses on a detailed scientific understanding of various
phenomena, with the intention of defining outcomes in terms of known conditions.
By understanding phenomena at the most basic level it will be possible to propose
generic rules for design, control and development.
